A little bit about Colleen…

Visual art has always been part of my life, both as a pastime and professionally.

I was born and raised on the San Francisco Peninsula. I spent thirty-five years in print advertising. Ten years ago, I was introduced to fused glass at the Fire Arts Center in Arcata and that is where I now teach. 

My mediums include graphite, pastels, metal design, watercolor, pen & ink, and fused glass. All of which lend themselves to a range of wall art, journaling, trophies & awards, art pieces, greeting cards, dinnerware, commissioned pieces, historic window replacement and clocks.

Creative form, practical function and vibrant colors became my focus once I was introduced to fused glass. I choose lush colors and individually hand cut the glass shapes to create both simple and complex designs that are fun and sophisticated.

Each design features custom glass shapes that are fused together in my kilns for many hours up to 1475 degrees.  The layers of glass and enhancements can be further manipulated by slumping or draping the glass again in the kiln

My art has been used in professional real estate staging and I have been a featured gallery artist in Sacramento and in Eureka. Hole Studios art glass is a part of the décor in homes and businesses across the United States and from Japan to Portugal.
